Brandyn Iverson was in her third term on the Orinda Planning Commission (Chair 2018-2020) when she was elected to City Council in 2022. She is currently serving as Mayor.
During her 7 years on the Orinda Planning Commission (Chair 2018-2020), she had a seat at the table for the groundwork done on the Downtown Plan: studies and surveys, ULI panel, Connect Orinda, EIR scope, and now, making all of that work dovetail with California’s state-imposed standards for adding housing and density as a matter of right. We just did all the State-required upzoning, and you need someone well versed in housing and housing laws to navigate the implementation for Orinda's best interests.

Brandyn is a JD/MBA who has used her legal training for a career in business as a builder and a problem solver. With 20+ years in commercial real estate and investments, she is experienced with zoning and land use, has managed large-scale budgets with an owner’s eye to detail, and knows that the best projects are a win for the city and the owner.
Orinda is a special place. It’s safe for free-range kids, has real character, is friendly and collegial, and has a community that gives its time and resources to make our school, sports, and civic life some of the best anywhere. As we balance the State’s mandates on housing with our own priorities for downtown, preserving community character comes first.
